Dry Ice can be
dangerous Dry Ice sublimates into CO2 gas, which can be deadly in an enclosed room or car. Even if driving with the Dry Ice in your trunk, you should crack the windows. Do not put Dry Ice in a working freezer, the freezer just blows HOT air onto the Dry Ice and melts it faster, it's best stored in a thick insulated, but not air tight container. If your container is air tight, it could explode when the Ice sublimates into gas and the pressure increases exponentially inside the container. Wear thick gloves, or use a scoop or tongs to manipulate the Dry Ice. If you're using it to ship food, make sure it's not touching the food directly, as this will cause freezer burn. |
